What Matters to ME

It doesn't interest me of what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me of how old you are. I want to know if you'll risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or yours, without giving up but instead, standing strong for and with each other. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or yours; if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty everyday.

I want to know if you can live with failure, mine and yours; and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout, "I'll never leave your side no matter what."

It doesn't interest me where you live or how much money you have; I want to know if you can get up after a night of despair, weary and bruised and still get up in the morning and do what it needs to be done just to feed our children.

It doesn't interest me of your faults and failures. I want to know if you can confess and repent and promise not to do it again.
